Opinion on Mental Health : Who are the culprits & how to tackle?

"In recent years, there has been increasing acknowledgement of the important role mental health plays in achieving global development goals, as illustrated by the inclusion of mental health in the Sustainable Development Goals. Depression is one of the leading causes of disability. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds. People with severe mental health conditions die prematurely – as much as two decades early – due to preventable physical conditions." - World Health Organization Overview on recent ongoing Mental Health degradation cases in COVID-19 Pandemic.

Mental health needs to be maintained in these difficult times in COVID-19 Pandemic. Many people lost their jobs, many faced financial crisis and due to many such difficulties faced by people in recent times, some even went wrong way of robbing or hacking while some even attempted suicide. All these examples are recent and are very clear examples of poor mental health.

Poor mental health can lead to many diseases, mostly internal fatal diseases. That is why, Mental well being is important as it helps people to maintain good health too. It is more like a physical disorder in brain that causes disturbances in all normal things like thinking, behavior, etc. and as such human beings find it difficult to cope up with normal or ordinary demands of life.

Microsoft recently research into this hot topic and found out one way to tackle these issues. In this article above it is clearly mentioned that gaming has a positive impact on overall minds of people. However excess use of these things mind lead to another type of disorder, in other ways an addiction to these things. What actually helps in gaming that one can learn new and creative things.

Especially not talking about the violence games over here. Many Role-Playing games in which one has to assume the control of the character who has to complete certain quests for survival. Players tend to feel that completing certain quests helped them to fulfill the wish and explore further. After all it’s not that games do it badly; it’s that society does it badly, and games are in some respects a reflection of society and its values.

But thinking about the other side of the coin, Playing too many video games can make depression worse. Those who are addicted to gaming are twice as likely to be depressed as those who do not game. Excessive gaming can lead to dopamine exhaustion, emotional suppression, and lack of motivation, among other issues. So it is recommended that Gaming is one way to stop degradation of mental health but too much use might hamper brain functioning too.

Another way to tackle mental illness in recent times is to not to stress yourself on many topics. It is observed that students mainly stress out after completing a long list of assignments that might take months to complete or employees in a company who have been tasked with intensive workloads and are unable give family some time. The stressing in this situation leads to many unusual happenings in the life of that individual so it is recommended to tackle the long and complex work issues smartly rather than working too hard.

The above chart is very useful in schools and colleges. This framework not only makes the classes interactive than ever but also it makes a significant drop in mental health issues. Unless there is some reform in educational system and it takes mental health as a very serious priority and educate it to the students.

. . .

So what's the exact solution to tackle mental health challenges?

Firstly, if you want to stay happy no matter how much work is on pending list, just relax. Don't think of it for a moment. In that span of time of resting, you will have two options. One being the simple rest or sleep. The other one being doing the activity which you like. The second way of doing the activity you like might keep you interested and engrossed in it. One might tend to forget his worries. But there is a limit for it too.

Final conclusion can be drawn out, just keep calm head, be happy. We ourselves are the culprits of the degradation of human mental health. We sometimes overcomplicate the things and tend to damage the situation more often. So chill out! and take care.
